In 2009, Rachele Gilmore, an understudy, only had 4 hours to learn and sing one of the most difficult opera songs (The Doll Song). She ended up hitting High A-flat (A?6). the highest note to have ever been hit in the opera's history.
Rachele Gilmore, who was Kathleen Kim's cover for Olympia, makes her Met debut with four hours notice when Ms. Kim falls ill, and proceeds to bring the house down.
