It’s been a while

Aaron went to sleep, waking up the next morning to knocks at his door.
He got up, cracking his neck.
Walking to the door, he noticed his pistol was laying on the couch.
He tossed it under quickly, and went to the door again.
Opening it, he was surprised.
It was the old Japanese-American man from the train.
“Hello.” He said kindly.
“Hey, how’s it going? How’d you know I live here?” Aaron asked.
“Oh, I see you walk to this flat. I come here today, and ask doorman for your apartment.” The man replied.
“What’s your name, sir?” Aaron inquired.
“Shinobu. May I come in?” Shinobu asked.
“Yes. Would you like coffee, tea, or water? We can talk on the couch or at the dining table.” Aaron said.
“Just coffee will do.” Shinobu replied.
The fragile old man walked to the dinner table with his cane.
Aaron prepared coffee, using a keurig.
“Why not use regular coffee maker?” Shinobu asked, curious.
“Well, this machine makes it just as good, and it’s easier to make.” Aaron replied, setting the cup in front of Shinobu.
Shinobu took a sip, and he looked confused.
Suddenly, he smiled, and started to laugh.
“Oh, you are right. I’m not used to this. Back at my house, I have only normal coffee machine. I got it years ago.” Shinobu said.
“Were you born here in the U.S.?” Aaron asked.
“No. I was born in Japan, back during war. My father had to move to U.S., but I was born in Japan. 1943. My mother always said the thought of war was troubling. Oh, she did not like when everyone would talk about it. But she never expressed the feeling in fear of prison. When we got to U.S., it was one big adjustment. My father knew little english, but he eventually learned most of it. I still do not know or understand a lot of english.” Shinobu told Aaron, who was intently listening.
They talked about life and their stories for 5 hours, both enjoying the talk.
Suddenly, Aaron got a call.
It was from the girl on the train.
“Sorry, Shinobu. I just have to answer this call.” Aaron said.
He walked into the other room, and answered the call.
“Uh, hey. I never got your name.” The girl said.
“Never got yours, either. I’m Aaron.” Aaron replied.
“I’m Natalie. Also, are you free Thursday?” Natalie asked.
Aaron looked at his calendar.
Thursday was 3 days away, and he had nothing planned.
“I’m free Thursday. Why, you want me to take you out?” Aaron asked.
“Well, yeah. You asked for my number. Where should we go if you do take me up on that offer?” Natalie asked as Aaron was sweating like crazy.
“Uhhhhhh…” Aaron said, thinking.
“You like bowling?” Aaron asked.
“Heck yeah! Does Roman’s bowling alley sound good?” Natalie asked.
“Sounds good. When should I meet you there?” Aaron replied.
“6:30 in the afternoon. I’ll talk to you later, my mom just got home.” Natalie said.
The call ended.
“Guess who’s got a date?!?!” Aaron yelled, much to the delight of Shinobu.
