she sits alone in her room,
he listens to some rap tune,
she stares at the wall in the dark,
he hangs out at the mall and the park,
she sits there thinking about him,
mumbling along to the Church hymns,
she hides all her talents and desires,
passion burning, thoughts churning like an open fire,
she gazes into the clouds a-gray,
all his fears fade away,
she looks up at night at the stars,
thinking she'll never get far,
he dwells in her mind and soul,
challenging how far he can go,
he doesn't know that he does this,
he doesn't know that he causes it,
he's far less guilty than innocent,
she covers up the fact that she knows it,
what could she say and what good could that ever do,
when she could be sitting there,
thinking about you,
why do some words mean everything,
and some nothing at all,
why do some days you want to fly,
and some you want to fall,
she doesn't know his mind,
and the thoughts that run through it,
she doesn't know the lies,
seeping through the cement,
he doesn't know the confusion that he's caused,
she doesn't know the pain she once felt had paused,
he laughs and cheers and jokes with his friends so hopelessly,
if only he cared so much as did she....
