Last class, I said that not all wands work for all wizards. This is the main idea of the wand usage area of study in Wandlore.
Different wand cores respond differently to usage. Wands with unicorn hair as the core are hard to turn to the Dark Arts, while wands with dragon heartstring as the core are easy to turn to the Dark Arts. Wands with unicorn hair produce the weakest magic, wands with dragon heartstring produce the most powerful magic, and wands with Phoenix feather can produce the most types of magic. Wands with dragon heartstring as the core are most accident-prone. If a wand with unicorn hair is improperly used it will become sad and the hair will need to be replaced.
