Anyone else have had 3 of their favorite servers shut down? (It doesn’t have to be at one time) Because I just found out that happened to me.

-

The first server that got shut down was The Hive Java. I absolutely loved that server, mostly for their party games. I remember loving Battery Dash (which I haven’t played since it shut down) and hating One in the Chamber (which I still hate) and Incognito (which I like now, and I call it QuakeCraft now).

All of a sudden, The Hive announced that they were gonna shut Java down due to a lack of players on April 15, 2021 at 2:00pm PST. I logged in that day and played for as much as I could. I even got to chat with some players.

But then I had to go to school. And during school, that server shut down forever. When I logged on to Minecraft at home, and joined The Hive, I instead got this message: The Hive Java Edition has closed down. Thank you for 8 years of amazing memories! Visit HiveMC.com for more information. We hope to see you on Minecraft: Bedrock Edition!

Luckily, the website was still up for a bit after the server closed down, so I got to see the last of The Hive’s many gamemodes. And then, a while later, the website shut down. Nowadays, it redirects to The Hive’s Bedrock site.

I still tear up about the shutdown to this very day.

The first one was obviously the saddest. But let’s move on to the 2nd.

It was a peaceful January 2, 2021, and I finally got my Minecraft to work to join the server that just opened, Mineclub. I joined, and there was actually other new players joining, announcing their number. (I was the 649th person to join) I remember the first thing on Mineclub that hyped me up is the 666th player. I suggested a Devil title for that person and that one only. It didn’t go into effect immediately, but Mineclub did add a Devil title to the shop.

It was very different back then. Mineclub was set to go out of beta in a month, and every 5 minutes, someone got a free Beta hat. And boy are those valuable. I got a red one and kept it. (I later traded for a purple one then gave it away)

Look at it: There was an actual shop back then (instead of a marketplace) and you could color your titles without the Premium rank. And the only games were tabletop games. That was when my pushing habit started, and I started pushing people into the future games portal. (Then it was just a place where you could float)

It was February, when Mineclub was going out of beta. Was, because they actually delayed it by a month so it was gonna be March now.

In February, Mineclub was giving out free beta sabers and beta titles. Those are also rare, but not as much as beta hats.

The times went by until April. I was really mad at Mineclub for some reason so I put it in a bad light and just after 2 mods DM’ed me with lengthy responses, I quit. For 8 months.

Fast forward to December and I come back on. Nobody knew who I was, so I had to build a new reputation. And I sure did.

In January, I was very active in Mineclub, to the point where at one time I spent an entire day on the server. Most everyone knew who I was. Also, I believe this was the time Mineclub reached 1,100 players ant once. And for the next 3 months, people both new to Mineclub and regular players saw me often. And then I quit again.

The reason I quit again was different. And I still came on about once a month. But Mineclub just felt different after April 2022. A whole bunch of staff left and there was almost no players, so I quit. And then Mineclub shut down sometime between October and December 2022. There’s a whole bunch of videos on YouTube explaining the rise and fall of Mineclub and why Mineclub shut down, but I already know the reason.

Because I was a former Mineclub player.

The third one I didn’t find out about until yesterday. And it was not just Java, but also Bedrock. And a big name, too.

I remember the second-to-last lobby of Mineplex Bedrock. Pretty nice if you ask me. Also the only lobby I experienced without being the Duke rank. (The highest rank for a long time until VIP came out)

There used to be a rather annoying problem on that server. The white skin problem. (Everybody’s skins were white except mine)

Then, Mineplex changed to a city lobby on Bedrock in June 2020. The white skin problem went away. I was also wondering when they’d change the lobby again.

I was mostly on Mineplex for the Housing, although I did sometimes play a nice game of Cake Wars (the most popular game) or Turf Wars. It was laggy, but I liked it. Bedrock also had around 9,000 players at once since it was a featured server. Also, I remember a senior moderator that was on Bedrock and they were really nice. Highest-ranking staff member I ever saw on Mineplex.

Then, I found out about Mineplex Java. It was also laggy, but it was really nice. There was no Housing, but there was two gamemodes I loved: Arcade Games (or was it Classic Games) and Nano Games. I never got any rank on Java, simply because I didn’t want one. It wasn’t like Hypixel, which I played a lot. (And Hypixel will not shut down in the near future due to the player base thankfully)

Meanwhile, on Mineplex Bedrock, I found out about a new rank, VIP. I was already happy with my Duke rank so I didn’t spend any minecoins for VIP.

Then, I left both Mineplex Java and Mineplex Bedrock for unknown reasons.

Yesterday, I wanted to play Mineplex just because I was bored and I wanted to play their Nano Games. I go on Minecraft Java, and I see that it couldn’t connect, which was really weird for a server with 500 players.

Then I saw the news online: Mineplex shut down. In May 2023. And I didn’t even notice.

And it wasn’t just Java either: It was Bedrock. Mineplex was a featured server on Bedrock with over 8,000 almost all the time (well it might have been closer to 5,000) so it was REALLY weird for a server with thousands of players to shut down unexpectedly.

And nobody knows why Mineplex shut down.

But luckily, weeks after it shut down, it got revived. An Overwatch player bought the server and started revamping it, so I should see it back sometime in the near future.

If anyone does have the same sorta experience, then share it! Please! (Also, it’s really weird having 6 featured servers now and not 7; there was 6 featured servers for about a year before this happened)

Update: Pixel Paradise also shut down, so now there’s 5. I don’t really miss it though since Spleef is on Mineville now. (The shutdown also proved my theory right - that Pixel Paradise was owned by Mineville because CookCraft is on Mineville now and that was a Pixel Paradise exclusive before)

Well, technically, I was last on The Hive Java about an hour before it closed.

So you’re wrong.
