School computer moderation is something else. I understand the moderation of Social Media, Inapropiate websites, Scam links and other things, but why this???
So as you guys know, I love everything about Scandinavian culture. I am writing an essay on the history of Scandinavia (for a drawing im making for fun, yes I am a nerd) and turns out, a lot of reliable sources for researching Nordic cultures, for example Nordic on Tap, which is a podcast that showcases people protecting their Scandinavian heritage in the USA is blocked. TheNorwegianAmerican, a Nordic blog. So is PastelScandinavian (she does have some inappropriate articles so I’m not tagging her but it’s pretty tame) who is an EDUCATIONAL art and Language blogger . They could at least block the Inappropriate articles off these websites, but nope they blocked the whole thing. Yet they have stuff like Dork Diaries Boyfriend creator Unblocked. Why??? The last thing we need to see is a Norwegian(-American) or Swedish(-American) kid who is aware of their heritage to start being clueless about it, or worse Hating it and leaving it all behind. What happened to Nordic heritage centers hosting events for kids? What happened to schools letting kids express themselves. What happened to kids NOT getting shoved trendy topics down their throats???
This angers me. As a 13-year-old, they could do better. I understand why they will block these sited to elementary school students, but what about Middle school or High School students? The future is scarring me.
My school also claims to be an "International" school but then they do this. not letting kids learn about a certain culture. I dont know what to do, I want to find a way to protect Nordic culture, we cannot let such a beautiful culture be forgotten (btw I am not of Nordic heritage and if you aren't Nordic I also respect your culture)
Btw the reason why have to add (-American) its incase the scenario happens to a kid who is Actually Scandinavian, or a kid with Scandinavian ancestry.
