And I absolutely killed it! My rap was by far the longest one out of anyone in the class (well except the most popular rapper in the class, well maybe mine is even longer) and a lot of people love my rap now. In fact, I’m probably the second most favorite rapper in my class, behind someone else. (They said that I was his favorite rapper, also he did a rap battle against the teacher)
But I’m obviously gonna tell y’all how I did it.
So we had an assignment in class for a science rap, poem, or song. I did a rap, like most people. (Well there’s only a few people in my class who can actually rap so most people just did a poem)
So first, I wrote the chorus. Well, writing the chorus was the hardest part. I didn’t like my first chorus so I wrote another chorus that I did like for now.
So then I started writing the first verse. And that’s when I realized the chorus would not work for me and that’s when I realized the chorus was bad writing.
I came up with another chorus. I once again didn’t really like it, but I decided to start writing the verses.
Writing the verses was easy for the most part. You had to write at least 10 couplets (I had WAY more than that, I had approximately 30) per person (I worked alone), each couplet has to have science information, and the ending words of each line in a couplet has to rhyme. (The chorus is the exception) Also, a chorus has to appear twice per 10 couplets. (You can space out the two choruses as far apart as you want but it has to appear twice per 10 couplets)
I also wrote an intro and an outro, and apparently I was the only person who did so. Dude, your raps have to begin and end somehow.
Then, I made a new chorus last-minute and it paid off. You’ll see.
Earlier today, I performed my rap. I had to choose a stage name so I chose one. (Not telling you guys since it has my real name) I didn’t really get to practice my rap so I was destined to fail.
Right?
Wrong.
I said the intro and then I just began rapping the verses, with rhythm obviously. I also rapped my chorus, and after I rapped my chorus two or so times, some people began rapping along.
And then the entire class rapped it.
It was the same thing for the outro. I repeated “density, identity” five times for the outro (I got inspired by the song “Give It Away” by RHCP, where Anthony Kiedis repeats “Give it away now” 13 times for the outro) and after I said “density, identity” two times, others began saying the outro.
And then I was done. And WOW did a lot of people clap. Heck, they were even talking about me after I was done. Saying how good I was.
Yeah, I was nervous before I did it. But I’ve done it before. (Okay maybe not rapping but I gave a speech to 300 adults and 70 students in June 2023)
I guess public speaking is my talent after all.
