Description
How small can smoke rings get? In this video we'll take a look. Whether large or small, the movement of vortex rings can be a fascinating when made visible. For a better view of the ring structure, I would like to suggest to anyone studying smoke rings, to observe them in a darkened room under single bright light bulb to see the intricate detail of the smoke particles revolving around around the ring as it moves forward. I use a 100 watt bulb and shoot small rings about 1-2 feet away from the bulb.
A note of caution, the chemicals used in this video are used in very small amounts by persons experienced in handling chemicals. Hydrochloric acid, Ammonia, and Ammonium Hydroxide can all cause skin irritations, eye damage, or respiratory irritations if inhaled. This demonstration was performed in an area with very good exhaust ventilation system.
