Dear Girls Advice Column,

I know I need a friend for middle school, being in 5th grade. So, I really want to be this girl named Ava's best friend. But, I don't know how! All my other friends just started hanging out with me. She will when I ask her to, but...How am I supposed to be her #1 when she only talks with me occasionally? How am I supposed to tag her as a BFF without being helpless and dorky?

i don't know what to say, being in 7th grade and not having any friends at all. Just try to be nice, ask her questions to get to know her more.
