Idk what it’s actually for because I feel like ~ is used for anything accept it’s intended purpose

As far as I'm aware:

Besides all the childish uses, the ~ symbol is used (in simple terms) as an alternative for the word "estimate". For example, 16/6 is ~2.6

Uhhh I think it can be used in file naming or smth like when I export a drawing from krita there will be an extra file that I have no clue the purpose of that also gets exported and it’ll have the same name except it’ll have a “~” at the end

I think it's used for math stuff but I low-key forgot. It also works to show there is a sense of rhythm in a phrase of sentence like,

"Ve~♩"
