Last stand, part 2
The base had just witnessed the deaths of the two best men they had, and the Covenant were too busy partying over the corpses to notice the Marines pull out some old weapons and reinforce the positions. They opened a weapons locker and got out rifles from the 20th century. They set up a nuclear weapon known as a “Davy Crockett” and readied themselves for the impending attack. The Covenant finally got their wits back together, and they fired a nuclear grenade into the gathering mass. A flash of light and all that was left was metal globs. They reloaded the weapon and prepared for a second invasion, this time, a Phantom dropship moved in for the kill, firing its plasma repeater towards the base. They shot the Davy Crockett and it hit home, nuking the ship out of the sky and sending it into the hills, where it disappeared. A unit of Wraiths moved in and fired towards the base, narrowly missing the nuclear warheads. The Wraiths opened up with Plasma cannons and managed to skim a warhead. It started hissing and smoking, so one of the Marines picked it up, getting shot throughout his body, and Kobe Bryanted it into the unit, sending it into flames.
The Marines had ran out of warheads, and a even larger mass of Covenant were assembled above the hill, speaking in their strange tongues and throwing plasma grenades to no avail. The CO told the Marines to grab the bazookas, machine guns, and rifles, to fix bayonets and march up the hill. “But sir, the Covenant will mow us down!” The CO calmly replied “They haven’t seen all human battle strategies, have they?”, then ordered the Marines to get in a line and march up the hill. The Covenant, puzzled by the curious strategy, held their fire, until the Marines went from marching to sprinting. The Marines with fire and fury, went in and started hollering and flinging grenades, each Marine cutting down more Covenant everytime one Marine fell. By the time the sun had reached its peak, the blood of Marines and Covenant alike pooled together.
