Hm.. I have a few points..
1.) "Good" people don't go to heaven.
.. it says it in Romans that no one is good, therefore no one can get to heaven.
2.) John 14:6, John 3:16
I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.
For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
.. it's important to clarify that the Greek word translated as "believes" is not actually found in the English language. It doesn't really make sense to use that word, as Satan believes Jesus existed and died and rose again for people.
The word is moreso referring to covenantal commitment; trusting God to do his part, and committing to doing your part.

God knows we aren't perfect. He knows that no one is truly good. God doesn't expect us to be perfect. All he expects is that we try.
People often times focus on not going to hell.. or whether or not they'll get to heaven. The gospel (meaning "Good News") is good news. We no longer live by the old covenant. In the old covenant people were saved by following laws perfectly. God knows that it's impossible. The Good News is good. It's that we no longer have to worry about following a set of laws perfectly. All we have to do is try. It's not a matter of escaping God's judgement.. people have done that to ourselves. All hell is is a life in a world without God. It's described like fire though, because it's real bad. The good news is about accepting God and his love and blessings. God's rules aren't random things that people are to follow or they go to hell. God's rules are for our own benefit, and the benefit of others.
As soon as a person chooses God. They're what we call "baby Christians". They're just starting. When a baby is born, it doesn't know how to love. As it grows older and matures, it learns. It's the same way with Christians. The closer we grow to God, the more we learn to love him.
The point is that you try and you care. If you do that, and trust God, you'll grow! It's not about what stage of the Christian faith you're at.. God loves everyone, including all of his children. He's not a computer with a checklist to see if you meet all the requirements. The Bible says that the way you love God is by loving his people.
Remember, it's Good news. Not something to inflict fear.

the fact that you are thinking of this, shows that you care.. following God isn't about a checklist or fear.. it's about trying and experiencing God's blessings as a result.
God's not a genie, he understands that people aren't perfect.. all he wants is that you try, and choose him
