I made a post a few minutes before, but here's another story I worked on while Thalia was writing the chapters for Captured. This story is called 'The Masquerade Ball'. I think this one's a bit longer than 'The Daughter of time'.
It was at that moment… I knew I was being watched. Every time I walked, I heard footsteps. When I stopped, they stopped. At first I felt a pair of eyes on me, then I saw them, beautiful electric blue eyes, but they were lifeless. It felt as if staring into them was the most dangerous mistake.
Once I looked at them, I fell down, it felt as if the gravity was forcing down somehow. When I got up, the eyes had disappeared. I went outside for some fresh air, when I was walking I heard the footsteps again. I started walking faster, the footsteps got faster. I broke into a run, my sweat was pouring down like a waterfall, the footsteps suddenly stopped, I knew I shouldn’t look back, but I did anyway, what I saw was a tall slender man dressed in all black with a silver masquerade mask. He gestured to me to follow him, I didn’t know what to do and I was super scared, so all I did was stay there staring at the man. The next thing I knew, the ground opened up and swallowed me, I blacked out.
When I woke up, I expected to be in Heaven or something, instead I woke in a nice looking place, it looked like the inside of a castle, red velvet curtain drapes, a silky white bed(king size), a pure white couch with soft, plush pillows, pretty glass doors leading to a balcony with nice chairs with the same plush pillows, and a walk-in closet. I looked down at my clothes, I was wearing a beautiful white silky dress with nice ruffles.
The door opened, I looked up and saw a gorgeous(quite cute) guy standing there, he looked about 14 and had piercing blue eyes, kind of like the ones I saw earlier but more lively, he looked at me like I was a puppy he adored. “You should get dressed and come to the dining hall.” the guy said with the faintest accent, “But I don’t know where the dining hall is!” I exclaimed. He just looked at me weirdly and started to laugh a little bit, “Of course you don’t! Ha! You should’ve seen the look on your face!” I looked at him dumbfounded, how could he laugh about me not knowing where to go? And what did he mean by ‘get dressed’? Wasn’t what I was wearing already enough? I mean, it looked like a beautiful dress…
“Oh… I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be rude, it was just funny how your expression were all like this.” he mimicked my expression, and I have to admit, it was quite funny, and the fact that it made me giggle even a little bit made me mad.
“Um, yeah... what am I supposed to wear? Isn’t this a dress?” I asked and the guy started laughing again. “No, it’s a nightgown, I guess it does look quite nice though, probably in your world, er, I mean, where you come from people would wear this as a dress.” he said it like it didn’t matter that much, but to me it mattered a ton. “What do you mean by ‘my world’? And why do you say it like it doesn’t matter?!” I asked. I guess I startled him because at first he looked confused, but right after he regained his composure but with a sad-ish look on his face. “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to make you sad or mad or anything, I really just forgot how it felt like for me when I first came here…” his voice trailed off leaving me curious.
I walked over to him and said “Are you okay?” but the answer I got made me embarrassed, because he answered with “Of course I’m okay silly!” back to his playful kidlike act. He sure can cover up his real personality. I wonder what he’s really like behind that childish mask.
He walked over to the walk-in closet and opened it. He picked an outfit for me, it had a frilly white blouse, a black pinafore skirt that was blank on the top until it reached my waist, shin-high white socks, and a pair of black knee-high boots. The guy was about to leave, but I called out to him “Wait! What’s your name? Will I ever see you again?” he stopped and looked at me just as he reached the doors, I blushed. He smiled at me, a sweet smile, my heart fluttered, “My name is Vincent. And yes, I will see you at breakfast, and I will be by your side most of the time except for when you need privacy, and I will defend you from anything or anyone that does or tries to hurt you.” he said. “So you’re basically going to be my bodyguard?” I asked, looking down at his well-built body. “Yes, basically, more of a butler. Oh well, see you downstairs! Oh, and here is a map of the castle.” he said, “C-castle?!” I stuttered, “I thought this was just a mansion or something!”, but he had already left, I could sense him smiling even when he left.
“Boys…” I sighed exasperatedly, “they’re all helplessly stubborn, aren’t they?”. After I said that my stomach grumbled loudly, I decided to get dressed and go downstairs quickly before my stomach started to hurt from hunger.
The clothes fit me perfectly, it was as if they were made specifically for me, and they were so soft and comfy that I could probably even sleep in them. I hurriedly went out the door, and tried looking for the staircase that was shown on the map, but I kept getting lost and kept finding long hallways filled with rooms. I finally ran into a maid, literally. I was wandering around a hall and I was looking at the paintings on the hall, and then I ran into a maid, she was a pretty blonde girl around my age, maybe a bit younger, and she had hazel-brown eyes like mine, but her eyes were filled with fear when she saw that she bumped into me.
“OhmygoshI’msosorryIdidn’tmeantobumpintoyou!” she said, super fast, in one breath, wearing a terrified look on her face. “Oh! It’s fine! I’m the one that should be sorry, for not looking where I was going.” I gave her a smile, she still looked terrified but her face showed confusion. “U-um, aren’t you mad at me, My Lady?” she asked, “No! Not at all! Why should I be?” I asked, “Well, you are going to be the new princess here. And a lot of girls that I met before here have been super mean to me, so…” she looked at me scared. “I’m sorry to hear that… And also, WHAT NOW?! I’M GOING TO BE THE NEW PRINCESS?! I don’t even know where this place is!” I exclaimed, the girl whimpered a little bit, I could see tears forming at the corners of her eyes. “I didn’t mean to do that… Sorry, I’m really sorry if I did scare you, I’m just really stressed because I just woke up, and suddenly I’m in a new place, and then a cute guy says that he is going to be my bodyguard from now on, and then I get lost here while looking for the staircase to go to the dining hall, and now I figure out that I’m going to become a princess of this giant castle?” I said, basically questioning myself.
“Oh, uh, you didn’t know that? Um, ehm, uh, um, sorry if I offended you…” she stuttered. “It’s fine, really. So, uh, how do you get to the dining hall?” I asked, “I can show you! Follow me! … if you want, that is…” she gave me a sheepish smile, I smiled back at her, as nice as I could. “That would be nice, thank you!” I say, as she leads me through the halls. “Eeeek!” I hear the maid-girl exclaim, “What is it?” I ask. I look in the direction she’s looking at, and see a beautiful girl with hazel-brown locks that go up to her waist. She looks a little older than me, wearing an elegant dress, I could hear high heels clacking on the floor as she walked. “Hi, you must be Jasmine, the one that is getting married to Prince Connor. And who is with you? Is that you, Holly? Helping the enemy?” she asked in disgust. “Excuse me, but did you say enemy?” I ask, “Duh! What else would I have said? Long lost sister?” she scoffs.
What a pain. I think to myself. What the heck is wrong with her?! I mean, what did I ever do to her?
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. I need to get to the dining hall, ASAP.” I say, my stomach grumbling to emphasize it. I push past her and bring Holly with me. “Okay, lead on.” I say to Holly.
When we finally reach the dining hall, I let out a small gasp. It’s the size of 5 normal dining rooms combined! There’s even a crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling. There are 2 long dining tables lined up in the middle of the room. All of the chairs look like they each cost a fortune. I stumble on my dress a little bit, but thankfully somebody grabs me by the waist right before I hit the floor.
“Thanks…” I say as I look up, expecting to see Holly, but instead, I find the gorgeous face of the young man who will be my ‘butler’ or whatever.
