Hej guys, it's Carly
I am gonna be doing some ranting/venting so be prepared
As you guys know, since 2022, I have been beefing with my school's moderation system. But I feel like it has gotten way too far with their blocking.
1st of all, What are they doing at this point? As you guys know, I have autism and I love Nordic countries and researching them, their history, and their culture. well, my school thinks that Nordic countries are SUPER inappropriate so they block a lot of heritage sites.
I'm gonna give some examples. They blocked the National Nordic Museum, which is a museum in Washington that is about Nordic countries. My dream job is to work at the Museum, but apparently, the museum is inappropriate because It's blocked. I cannot have a dream
They also have blocked the Swedish-American Historical Society, which is one of America's Most IMPORTANT Scandinavian historical societies. Kids shouldn't be exposed to Swedish history (I'm in danger then) because IT IS ALSO BLOCKED.
And don't get me started on them blocking websites on how to learn the Nyckelharpa. I want to learn the Nyckelharpa because I listen to a lot of folk songs that use it, but IT'S A LITTERAL INSTRUMENT.
2nd, AUA violations. In case you don't know, an AUA violation means accessing a blocked site or attempting to bypass a blocked site. I haven't gotten any AUAs yet, but the fact that you could get an AUA for basically researching for school.
I almost got an AUA for googling how to say Hello in Northern Sámi. I feel like this is going way too far, because Not only it is language learning, but it is an ENDANGERED language.
and now for the unblocked sites, I love how my school can't unblock a site of cultural preservation, yet they have stuff like ads disguised as Preschool games and also the Dork Diaries website. The only good thing is that the Vilhelm Moberg website is safe, which is great because Vilhelm Moberg is amazing
I hope my school takes into consideration what I'm saying because they are lazy for have poor moderation skills. I cannot wait for summer so I can research Nordic countries free from these laws.
Well, I will only be allowed to research on my phone yet
Thank God School ends in 80 days
