The story of Black History Month begins in Chicago during the summer of 1915. An alumnus of the University of Chicago with many friends in the city, Carter G. Woodson traveled from Washington, D.C. to participate in a national celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of emancipation sponsored by the state of Illinois.

 

President Gerald Ford officially recognized Black History Month in 1976, calling upon the public to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.” That Is Why i LOVE Black History Month

No. It singles out one race and makes it seem like it's more important than other ones, but if you had a White History Month, it would be looked down upon.

Everyday is white history month. That I'd why they wanted the world to see the blood, sweat and tears of the black race. I know people know all about history in America, because it is taught and the teaching is that white America was the ultimate best, a short  month to learn a lesson

that others which is the black americans had accomplishments and was great as well, that history just reveals and show the  equality that America overall has some great people in it.
