In Bastus, Spain, an estimation of 300,000 sauropod eggs the size of a melon laid 70 million years ago in a beach were were discovered. It is believed that these might be eggs from Titanosaurus or Hypselosaurus.
Here are some of the dinosaurs that lived there:
- Titanosaurus, one of the last sauropods. It had skin covered in nodules, probably for defense.
- Hypsilophodon, an ornithopod (a dinosaur who walked on it's toes) who had cheek pouches designed to hold plants and could run at up to 23 miles per hour or 37 kilometers per hour, which is a little bit faster than a human.
- Hypselosaurus, an herbivorous dinosaur who lived in the Late Cretaceous who laid eggs that were 8 inches or 20 centimeters long.
- Pelecanimimus, a carnivorous ornithomimid (meaning bird mimic) who had 200 small teeth and birdlike legs designed for sprinting.
The province Cuenca in Spain has limestone from the Cretaceous. This limestone has eroded by many years of wind and water. Dinosaur fossils can be found inside these rocks.
