5+5=10 so add on 7 and it would = 17 but add on the man it would = 18

Or if if you ment people.... It would just be 5 but add on the man = 6

There are 7 cats. Each cat has 5 kittens.

Since there are 5 wives, we must multiply 35 by 5.

Now we must add the narrator, the man, the wives, the cats, and the kittens together. 

1 + 1 + 5 + 35 + 175 

2 + 5 + 35 + 175

7 + 35 + 175 

42 + 175
